Sponsor Announced for 2018 Food Festival
Motorcare Ford in Alnwick will be the main sponsor of the Alnwick Food Festival on 22nd and 23rd September 2018
“Ford Motorcare Alnwick are delighted to sponsor this year’s Alnwick Food Festival,” says Bryan Easton, Managing Director. “It’s one of the big calendar event dates for the town that everyone looks forward to, bringing people together to celebrate some great food and produce along with amazing entertainment to provide great fun that everyone can come along and enjoy.
“I think it’s important to support these events. Running a local business myself I know how important it is promote our local services and this is an excellent way to showcase what our local community has to offer.
“I know the event draws in tens of thousands of visitors and provides revenue for our local business’s so hope it long continues past the 13 year mark it now sits on.”

“We’ve an exciting mix of exhibitors booked for the week-end – familiar faces and some coming to Alnwick for the first time. Experiences not to be missed at this year’s event are the Mussel Pot (serving fresh mussels with crusty bread) and Corbridge-based Harper’s Exotic BBQ who promise burgers in a variety of exotic flavours including venison, buffalo and kangaroo!”
Graham Harper, the chef behind this unusual menu says, ”It’s called the Exotic BBQ. Please be careful not to mis-spell it! I offer burgers with flavours far flung places. Whether you’re a regular at Alnwick Food Festival or it’s yours first time, let your taste buds travel and try a Kangaroo or a Buffalo Burger.”
Ford Motorcare Alnwick will be featuring the new Ford Focus with two cars on show at the event and staff available to help explain the features of the new vehicles. “We are very excited at the arrival of the all new Ford Focus. “The Food Festival has a great following,” says Melanie Corn, Marketing and Promotions Officer. “Following the launch of this year’s event today, there will be regular posts on our website and Facebook pages to keep you in touch with the whole week-end programme – street food, stalls, family entertainment and what else is going on around town over the Festival week-end. The 2018 Food Festival which will take place on 22nd and 23rd September is expecting to attract over 50 street food stalls and food and drink producers, and to offer a full programme of family entertainment details of which will be announced in the coming weeks through the Northumberland Gazette.
This popular free event has attracted a footfall to the Market Square more than 30,000 over the course of the week-end. Commenting on last year’s event, Kathryn Archibald, a new recruit to the Steering Committee and attending her first Alnwick Food Festival said: “The Festival is a celebration of authentic, artisan food and crafts which, combined with the music and entertainers create a friendly atmosphere for everyone involved. It is a pleasure to be part of a successful community event.”

Join us on Friday the 21st December in Alnwick Market Square for our last monthly Farmers & Craft Market of 2018. We have some fabulous traders selling fresh local produce, fruit, veg, game pies, sausages, cheese, lamb, mutton and not forgetting the tasty sweet treats too!
Don't forget to wander around the town this WEEKEND. The Food Festival spills out into Bondgate Within and Narrowgate. Over 50 traders at this year's Food Festival and with plenty of LIVE MUSIC, entertainment and treats to purchase!

This month’s recipe uses Northumberland game from Hadrian’s Larder, notably Pheasant Legs. Game from Northumberland is some of the best available, having a perfect natural habitat for species to thrive. The gamekeepers and estate managers across the county do a great job in managing the population of game which can then be used to provide wonderfully lean, tasty produce for us all to enjoy.
