Alnwick Food Festival 2019

Join us in Alnwick for a weekend of food, fun, entertainment and live music. The Alnwick Food Festival has been an important feature of Alnwick’s autumn events calendar since 2005 when it was founded by Don Watson. The Festival provides a showcase for local food producers and locally produced food. It coincides with the harvest time and is a natural time to celebrate local produce. This year we are going bigger, we have over 50 stalls in the Market Place and Bondgate Within, entertainment including Jesse the bubbleologist, Malcolm's Punch & Judy shows, LIVE Music with Jenny Biddle, Percy & The Piglets, Nick & Eliza and the talented saxophone player, Rachel Stephenson.

With over 5o traders at this years Annual Alnwick Food Festival (22nd and 23rd September), you are certainly in for a treat. Browse the market stalls and feast your eyes on the best Northumberland local produce, from seasoning, to cheeses, jams to pickles, sausage heaven, the best game meat, we have it all and MORE.


the very best Street Food in the North East, we have a variety of spicy dishes, curries, vegan options, pizzas, burgers, mussels, greek gyros and pulled pork with all the trimmings. Something for everyone to enjoy!


For desserts, there’s so much choice, we have cupcakes, brownies, flapjacks, doughnuts, icecream, marshmallows – wow – it’s a sweet treat delight!

The refreshments side is looking rather good too, artisan coffees, prosecco, cocktails, gin and there’s the Annual Beer Festival too. Your certainly spoilt for choice in Alnwick for this extravaganza Food Festival.

This free entry Food Festival caters for all ages, it’s family orientated and we are dog friendly too. Alnwick Markets and Town, historic in it’s nature has an abundance of charm and character. The Market Square creates a friendly vibe, with visitors choosing to relax in the surroundings and soak up the jovial atmosphere.

  • Canny Candy Gadgies

    They are back in Alnwick with their awesome new range of flavoursome fudge! You can try before you buy and I highly recommend trying the Rhubarb and Custard combination. Yum!

  • The Chirnells Farmhouse Kitchen

    The Chirnells Farmhouse Kitchen produces all types of bread, biscuits, a variety of cakes, cupcakes and scones.

  • Earth & Fire Bakery

    Earth & Fire specialise in artisan breads, pastries and sweet bakes at markets and events around the region. They are a firm favourite at our Farmers Market and our main events - especially their special wood fired pizzas!

  • Goat Company

    At Lakewood The Goat Company began by breeding Aberdeen Angus in 1996. They won an award in 2010 which recognised their herd as the most improved in terms of genetic merit. Many of their cattle our classed in the top 1% of their breed for their traits.

  • Grant’s Butchers

    Grants Butchers are specialists in well over 100 different flavoured sausages, with top quality products sourced as much as possible locally and keeping in with a competitive market.

  • Greenbrae

    Located in the heart of the Coquet Valley, Greenbrae produce beef, lamb, mutton and rarebreed pork, where the animals are born on the farm and reared using age old techniques.

  • Hadrian’s Game Larder

    Hadrians Game Larder specialise in game produce, from field to fork. Here at Alnwick Market at the Regular Farmers Monthly Market and on our special events, you will find Silver with her ever so popular venison scotch eggs, pheasant pies and locally sourced game meat. There's always a sample on the go too, so try before you buy!

  • Merry Mare Prosecco and Gin Bar

    The Merry Mare Prosecco and Gin Bar provides a variety of the popular and trendy gin drinks along many other beverages. Whatever your thirst, they can quench! The bar is certainly becoming a firm favourite across the festival and fete scene.

  • Mivesi Cafe

    Mivesi is situated in Alnwick Market Square, the aroma of indian food is divine. On the 23rd and 24th June you will find Amina joining in with the Taste of The North as she prepares homemade gourmet curries. A firm favourite street food trader, in Alnwick and beyond.

  • Taste of Northumbria

    Taste of Northumbria is located in Alnwick Market Square. For this event they are joining us on the stalls where you can view a wide selection of their gins, rums and more!

  • Northumberland Cheese Company

    Northumberland Cheese Company are regular traders at Alnwick Market. There's so many of their handmade artisan cheeses that have won awards. My favourite is the Nettle Cheese - you can try before you buy too!

  • The Mad Jam Woman

    The Mad Jam Woman is a firm favourite at all of the TOP festivals, fairs and events in the North East. She has so many award winning sauces and jams it's difficult to keep track of! The latest award goes to the absolutely delicious gin flavoured jam but I also have to mention the morello cherry jam - our family can't get enough of it.

  • Cairn O’Mohr Winery

    Their fruit wines are all made in the traditional and proper way of fermentation followed by at least a year of maturation. This gives their wines real vinosity and smooth well developed flavours. They started with a core range of five types; Strawberry, Raspberry, Bramble, Elderberry and Oak Leaf, then added the Sparkling Oak & Elder for their our own wedding followed by the Sparkling Strawberry for someone else’s wedding.

  • Borderesque

    New company specialising in creating tantalising vegan options, featuring for the first time at Alnwick Food Festival on the 22nd and 23rd September 2018.

  • Dawson’s Delights

    A baking business named Dawson's Delights, which is founded by Megan Dawson. Bespoke recipes in a smart cellophane bag make excellent gifts. We offer home-made rustic recipes in a smart gusset bag, with our main seller of a Double Chocolate Chip Brownie. Additionally, we provide baked goods such as brownies, cakes and cupcakes.

    Boxed Traders provide ethical handmade cuddly toys, key rings and play mobiles. Such a pretty stall to visit with an abundance of colourful teddies to keep the little ones amused.

  • Hobberlaw Plants

    Hobberlaw Plants are a local based gardening centre in Alnwick. They have been attending Alnwick Markets for a number of years, year on year they produce some fabulous award winning hanging basket displays. Not only do they have a great range of flowers, plants and shrubs but they are very competitively priced too!

    Alnwick welcomes back it's annual Christmas Market on the 7th December in Alnwick Market Square and the Northumberland Hall. Enjoy a browse around our fabulous selection of arts, crafts, clothing, fashion, jewellery, artisan gins, mulled wine, street food and local produce stalls. During the day we will have Santa making his rounds, there will be kids activities in the Hall and plenty of music from our local bands including traditional carol singers and Alnwick Playhouse Big Band. Grab a coffee and enjoy the atmosphere. The Christmas Market opens at 9am and concludes at 4pm.
